Exciting start of the 2017-18 speed season
In the Canadian resort Lake Louise the alpine speed athletes gave us an exciting weekend November 25th and 26th as a start of the WC season 2017-18. Saturday Aksel Lund Svindal had his comeback again in the Downhill after another long injury period. And he impressed everybody with a new podium, only beaten by World Champion Beat Feuz (SUI) and Olympic Champion Matthias Mayer (AUT). Photo Scanpix, shows Kjetil Jansrud in the Super-G.
And the Attacking Vikings showed their strength with Kjetil Jansrud on fifth and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde on sixth place. Sunday the Norwegian Speed Team was even more convincing in the Super-G as Kjetil Jansrud took his first win of the season (his 20th WC victory) with Aleksander Aamodt Kilde on fourth place and Aksel Lund Svindal on fifth place, this time with the Austrians Max Franz and Hannes Reichelt sharing the podium with Jansrud. The upcoming guys Stian Saugestad (no 18) Adrian Smiseth Seiersted (no 26) also collected some WC points showing promising skiing.
We are looking forward to a very exciting speed skiing season up to the FIS World Cup in Kvitfjell in March.
